46 The Great Distrust Debacle: Boss’s Blunder, Bliss’s Thunder

But her boss wouldn’t listen, oh no, he paid no heed.
“You’re faking it!” he snapped, with a smug little grin,
But Bliss wasn’t worried—this round she’d win!

With a trip to the doc and a note in her hand,
She knew she had the upper hand at her command.
The boss could doubt, and Dick could sneer,
But the Funny Farm’s magic made worries disappear!


In Dream Whirld, everything sparkled like a cartoon brought to life, where nothing ever went too far south because Bliss—formerly Betty—was always one step ahead of the chaos. But today, even Bliss was feeling the pressure. The Funny Farm was flourishing, Serena was thriving, and Dick the yellow jackass was… well, Dick. But lately, Bliss had been feeling a little more off than usual. Her heart was doing this wild tango in her chest, and not in the fun, “I’m excited for cake” kind of way.

So, Bliss knew it was time to take a break and check in with the real experts—her trusty, ever-wise team of mini-horses (a.k.a. the VR therapists). But first, she had to deal with that pesky thing called a job.

At the mystical dreamworld office (think whimsical but also very “corporate”), Bliss approached her boss. Let’s call him Mr. Snoop. Now, Mr. Snoop had an uncanny ability to be suspicious about absolutely everything. His favorite activity? Accusing people of making up illnesses, time off, and even missing staplers. The guy had trust issues, clearly.

“Hey, Mr. Snoop, I need to leave early today. I’m not feeling too hot,” Bliss said, hand on her chest, feeling her pulse race.

Mr. Snoop’s beady eyes narrowed as if Bliss had just asked for the keys to the company jet. “You’re not sick,” he snapped, barely glancing up from his desk. “You just want to leave early.”

Bliss blinked. “Um, no, it’s definitely not that. My heart’s trying to beat the world record for cardio in my chest.”

Snoop waved his hand dismissively. “Yeah, yeah. I’ve heard it all before.”

Bliss took a deep breath, her patience thinning but her sense of humor kicking in. “Okay, but if I collapse, you’re explaining this to the mini-horses at my funeral.”

Snoop didn’t even look up. Classic Snoop.

Bliss rolled her eyes, grabbed her glitter-covered planner, and made a swift exit to head to Dream Whirld’s Medical Wing (conveniently run by ducks and crows, the best kind of therapists and nurses). Serena rode shotgun in their rainbow-speckled Mini-Coop (electric, of course).

At the hospital, the doctors were all ducks. Seriously, quacking little duck doctors, complete with stethoscopes and glasses perched on their beaks. They ran their tests and told Bliss that she should probably hang out for observation. But, of course, the Funny Farm needed her, and Dick would definitely throw a tantrum if she wasn’t around to deal with him (even though he’d never admit it).

So, the ducks reluctantly handed her a doctor’s note. “Follow up tomorrow,” they quacked in unison. Bliss nodded and headed home, already thinking about how she was going to convince Mr. Snoop to believe this without a full-fledged PowerPoint presentation.

When she texted Mr. Snoop later that evening, she got exactly what she expected: a barrage of accusations. “Where are you? I called the hospital, and they wouldn’t give me any information. You’re lying about being there.”

Bliss stared at her phone, debating whether to laugh or cry. “Are you for real?” she muttered, showing the text to Serena, who simply facepalmed.

“I was at the hospital,” Bliss texted back. “They have this thing called privacy laws. Ever heard of them?”

Snoop’s response was predictably irritating. “If you were that sick, you’d need more than one day off. You’re just making excuses.”

At that, the entire farm seemed to pause. Even the crows perched on the fence started cracking jokes. “Bet you he thinks you’re faking being awesome too,” one of them squawked.

Bliss grinned. The crows never failed to lighten the mood. Meanwhile, in the background, Dick was busy attempting (and failing) to eat crow for the thousandth time, running around like a goof while the birds stayed just out of reach.

“Keep dreaming, Dick!” one crow cawed as it dodged his grasp. “You’ll eat us the day you grow a brain!”

Bliss couldn’t help but chuckle. This was Dream Whirld, after all, and here, nothing stayed too grim for long.

Serena gave her a comforting pat on the back. “You don’t need to prove yourself to anyone, Bliss. We’ve got this. Tomorrow, we go back to the ducks, get the results, and we’ll handle everything. Including Mr. Snoop.”

Bliss nodded, feeling better already. “Yeah,” she said with a smile. “And next time, I’m making sure that Snoop gets a golden doctor’s note with sparkles and glitter.”

The next morning, Bliss was back at the hospital with the ducks, and—no surprise—the results were better than expected. Just a bit of stress from running the world’s most magical farm. She was in tip-top shape, ready to take on whatever Dream Whirld threw at her next.

And as for Mr. Snoop? He’d get the sparkliest, glitter-covered note he’d ever seen—hand-delivered by a duck in sunglasses, just for kicks.
